beauty in the mundane

Aside from being an artist, I'm also a musician with a dream of releasing my own music onto music streaming platforms. I was tasked with creating a project with several deliverables for my senior capstone project, and decided to use this opportunity to focus on creating the art for my upcoming EP. Not only is this a project I'm most proud of, but it also symbolizes so much of who I am and what I've been through, and gives me hope for progress and growth in the future as a designer and also a musician.

I am constantly stuck in my own head, unable to appreciate the moment in front of me. I am constantly seeking dopamine in something else, rather than seeking it out in the small things already existing within my world. I am my own obstacle, and I am the reason for my own struggles most times. beauty in the mundane is almost like a love letter to myself. A reminder that life doesn’t have to be so serious and so difficult. My life is not an optimization problem to be solved. I am simply human, and I am allowed to simply exist.

What a blessing it is to live the human experience. That was the main message of this project.

I took a lot of inspiration from Faye Webster, Hana Stretton, and The Japanese House. I love how simple, yet powerful their art is. They somehow find a way to visualize exactly what they sing about in their albums in the same way I envisioned doing in my own EP. I didn’t want to overthink everything. I didn’t want to stress myself out and become my own obstacle as I always do. Even the mundane can be incredibly beautiful. In the end, I wanted my album art to be soft and gentle, yet powerful, just like it’s message.

The deliverables include:
